Tokyo, Nov. 30 (Jiji Press)–Japanese economic security minister Takayuki Kobayashi indicated Tuesday that the government is hoping to form a planned economic security think tank in fiscal 2023.
As cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence and quantum cryptography, may be put into practical use very quickly, the government will aim to assess important areas related to economic security based on research by the think tank.
“We should work to identify up-and-coming technologies,” Kobayashi told a press conference.
Pointing to the need for the government to strengthen cooperation with researchers and businesses, Kobayashi said, “It’s important for us all to think about what the ideal society should be like 10 years ahead.”
