Tokyo nutrition summit vows 27 b. dollars in aid

Tokyo, Dec. 8 (Jiji Press)–The two-day Tokyo Nutrition for Growth Summit 2021 ended on Wednesday, with participating countries, international institutions and companies offering a total of some 27 billion dollars in nutrition-related aid.


The summit, aimed at discussing international efforts to improve nutrition, adopted an outcome document featuring a plan to establish a sustainable food system.


In his speech to the summit on Tuesday, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida pledged to provide 2.8 billion dollars over the next three years to help developing countries resolve nutrition problems.


He vowed to end hunger, as well as achieve food security and improved nutrition, by 2030.
