Okinawa Times wrote that during a municipal assembly session on Thursday, Nago Mayor Toguchi Takeaki and legislator Kishimoto Yohei, who said he will run in the mayoral election in January, exchanged views on the ongoing project to construct the Futenma Replacement Facility at Henoko. Kishimoto said it is irresponsible not to discuss the project’s impact on the local environment. Toguchi said in reply that the construction is moving forward based on the governor’s approval of reclamation work and that he will keep an eye on future developments because the dispute between the central and prefectural governments is now in court.
