Gov’t calls for ROK to appropriately handle comfort woman statue

By Chiba Tomoyuki

At a press conference on Dec. 13, Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno Hirokazu touched on the subject of the comfort woman statue in front of the Japanese Embassy in Seoul. Matsuno said: “We confirmed in the 2015 Japan-South Korea agreement that South Korea will acknowledge matters of concern to Japan and make efforts to appropriately resolve them. We have been repeatedly calling on South Korea to handle the matters appropriately, and we will continue to do so.”

Dec. 14 will make the 10th anniversary of the statue’s installation. (Abridged)
