Adult child of U.S. civilian base worker given six months imprisonment for marijuana possession

The trial of a 21-year-old son of a U.S. civilian base worker for violation of the Cannabis Control Law was held at the Naha District Court on Dec. 13 (Judge Ohashi Koji presiding). The defendant admitted to the charge of possession of 0.469 grams of cannabis sprigs at his home located in the Nagahama district of Yomitan Village. The verdict was given on the same day. Judge Ohashi handed down a sentence of six months in prison with a three-year suspension (prosecution demanded six months’ imprisonment). (Personal name has been redacted.)
