Moving up schedule for workplace vaccinations


Katayama Daisuke (Nippon Ishin [Japan Innovation Party]): Will the government consider moving up the schedule for administering COVID-19 vaccine booster shots at workplaces?


Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Goto Shigeyuki: We will consider the suggestion as we proceed with administering third doses.  


Japan-U.S. summit 


Morimoto Shinji (Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan): Is there still no date set for the Japan-U.S. summit?


Prime Minister Kishida Fumio: We are coordinating the schedule, taking various matters into consideration, including the domestic situation in the U.S. and COVID figures there. We aim to hold a summit at the earliest possible date.


Morimoto: Will you attend the review conference on the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) scheduled for the beginning of next year? 


Kishida: I have great interest in the NPT review meeting, but I have no concrete plans to attend. The schedule is still being worked out, including whether I will attend.  


Abductions issue


Yamashita Yuhei (Liberal Democratic Party): Rahm Emanuel will be the next U.S. Ambassador to Japan. How will you work to resolve the abductions issue through your relationship with him?


Kishida: I understand U.S. President Joe Biden has great trust in Emanuel. I will work closely with him.
