Tokyo, Dec. 24 (Jiji Press)–Japan remained at 19th in dollar-based per capita nominal gross domestic product in 2020 among the 38 members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Cabinet Office said Friday.
Japan‘s per capita GDP dropped 1.3 pct to 40,048 dollars, hit by the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The country has been moving between 18th and 20th on the rankings since 2013.
Luxembourg ranked first, followed by Switzerland, Ireland, Norway and the United States.
Japan‘s total nominal GDP in 2020 stood at 5,039.7 billion dollars, the third-largest in the world after the United States and China.
