Japan, Australia to sign defense agreement

All national dailies wrote that the governments of Japan and Australia announced on Wednesday that Prime Minister Kishida will hold a virtual summit with his Australian counterpart Morrison on Thursday and sign a Reciprocal Access Agreement (RAA) to enhance interoperability and collaboration between the SDF and Australian forces by facilitating faster deployment of defense personnel and easing restrictions on the transportation of weapons and supplies for joint training and disaster relief operations. Yomiuri wrote that Australia will be the first country to conclude an RAA with Japan.
