Asahi reported on Tuesday that the GOJ will help Indonesia introduce a technology using ammonia at its coal-fired power stations. The paper said this will help reduce CO2 emissions from coal-fired power plants, adding that through this assistance, Japan is hoping to fend off criticism of its plan to continue using coal-fired power stations. Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry Hagiuda, who is currently visiting Southeast Asia, and Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin reportedly exchanged memorandums on the matter on Monday.
