More Japanese companies reinstating telework in response to Omicron

Nikkei reported that a growing number of Japanese firms are now allowing their workers to telework in response to the COVID-19 resurgence caused by the Omicron variant, saying that Panasonic is requiring its employees in Okinawa, Hiroshima, and Yamaguchi, which are currently under a quasi-state of emergency, to work from home. Osaka Gas plans to have 70% of its employees telework, while Asahi Kasei Corp. has reduced the percentage of employees working in the office from 50% to 30%. Other businesses are also reportedly encouraging their employees to telework.
