Saturday’s Sankei reported that Booyeon Lee, a U.S. Embassy political officer, on Friday surveyed the site in Niigata where Yokota Megumi was kidnapped by DPRK agents 44 years ago. This was the first visit to the location in almost seven years by a Tokyo-based U.S. diplomat. After surveying the site for about 30 minutes, the U.S. official reportedly said: “It was an extremely heartrending sight. I learned a lot about the abductions in the past two days. I renewed my will to take action to resolve the issue quickly.”
