Nikkei wrote that although the Ministry of Foreign Affairs raised its travel alert for Ukraine on Monday to “Level 3,” the second highest of four, advising people not to travel to the country, it may consider raising the travel alert to the highest level depending on developments in the situation there. Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno told reporters on Tuesday that the situation is unpredictable, and the government will make utmost efforts to secure the safety of Japanese nationals. However, the paper wrote that it would be difficult for Japan to send SDF aircraft to evacuate Japanese nationals from Ukraine in the event of an emergency.
