Okinawa Times and Ryukyu Shimpo reported that Kadena Town filed a request with the Okinawa Defense Bureau, the U.S. Air Force’s 18th Wing at Kadena AB, and other relevant units to take the “maximum measures possible” to deal with noise from “Papa Loop,” which is adjacent to a residential area. The papers noted that “Papa Loop” is being used as temporary parking area for MC-130 special mission aircraft on account of plans to develop the area for the 353rd Special Operations Group, adding that the use of the loop has led to an increase in aircraft noise and odors.
