Saturday’s Yomiuri, Asahi, and Nikkei wrote that farm ministers from the G7 nations held an emergency online meeting on Friday to discuss the need for cooperation in ensuring stable supplies of food amid the worsening situation in Ukraine. Representatives of the EU, Ukraine, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations also participated in the meeting. The joint statement issued after the meeting said Russia’s invasion of Ukraine will have an impact on global food supplies and that the G7 calls on all countries to keep their food and agricultural markets open and guard against any unjustified restrictive measures on exports.
