Toyota subsidiary hit by cyberattack

NHK reported on an announcement made on Sunday by Denso Corp., a major auto parts supplier affiliated with Toyota, that the computer network of its office in Germany was illicitly accessed and the company is currently investigating the scope of the damage. A cybercrime syndicate called Pandora allegedly posted a statement on the dark web demanding that the firm pay ransom or 1.4 terabytes of data such as emails, invoices, and design charts stolen from its computer server would be made public. The company said the ransomware attack has had no impact on production and its plants will operate normally at home and abroad.
