Diet members’ league for promotion of renewable energy sources

Established in 2016; membership of about 100.

Research commission on environmental and anti-global warming measures

An LDP intraparty research commission responsible for global warming.

Lawmakers

Kono Taro (elected to Lower House nine times)

Serves as advisor to the Diet members’ league for promotion of renewable energy sources. Set up task force to review regulations as minister of state for regulatory reform.

Inoue Shinji (elected to Lower House seven times)

Former minister of state for science and technology policy. Originally from MLIT. Serves as chair of research commission on environmental and anti-global warming measures.

Shibayama Masahiko (elected to Lower House seven times)

Former minister of education, culture, sports, science and technology. Serves as chair of \ Diet members’ league. Known to have special interest in education.

Koizumi Shinjiro (elected to Lower House five times)

Former minister of the environment. Serves as acting chair of Diet members’ league and acting chair of the research commission.

Akimoto Masatoshi (elected to Lower House four times)

Former parliamentary vice-minister of land, infrastructure, transport and tourism. Serves as secretary-general of Diet members’ league. Has advocated shifting away from nuclear power since first elected to the Diet.
