WASHINGTON — On March 15, the U.S. 7th Fleet announced it had conducted a demonstration of an exercise involving carrier-based and other aircraft over the Yellow Sea. Pyongyang is moving forward with the development of new intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), and the exercise is thought to have been conducted to contain North Korea through military pressure.
Aircraft from the USS Abraham Lincoln and U.S. Air Force planes based in East Asia participated in the exercise. With the DPRK’s repeated missile launches, the U.S. military is enhancing its intelligence collection and reconnaissance activities in the Yellow Sea region.
