On March 29, the Bank of Japan (BOJ) released examination guidelines on financial institutions for fiscal 2022. The guidelines include a joint survey with the Financial Services Agency (FSA) on regional banks’ cybersecurity steps and examinations of their risk management measures. The BOJ will also examine whether financial institutions are capable of coping with climate change risks and assisting their vendors in addressing climate change challenges.

The BOJ will conduct a joint questionnaire survey with the FSA on regional banks’ cybersecurity steps and make use of the results in its examinations of financial institutions. It will also

raise awareness of money laundering and examine how financial institutions are addressing it.
