FM Hayashi to visit Belgium to attend G7, NATO conferences

NHK reported that Foreign Minister Hayashi will visit Brussels from Wednesday through Friday to attend a G7 foreign ministerial meeting to discuss the latest situation in Ukraine, including the war crimes allegedly committed by Russian troops, and confirm the group’s unity against the Russian aggression. The top Japanese diplomat also plans to attend a session with the foreign ministers of NATO and Australia, South Korea, and New Zealand. This will be the first time for a Japanese foreign minister to attend a NATO meeting with its four Asia-Pacific partners. Hayashi is reportedly set to call for NATO support for achieving a free and open Indo-Pacific.
