G7 foreign ministers agree on need to strengthen pressure on Russia

NHK and TV Asahi reported that the foreign ministers of the G7 nations agreed at their working dinner held in Germany on Thursday on the need for strengthening economic and political pressure on Russia, including additional sanctions. According to NHK, Foreign Minister Hayashi told his G7 counterparts that as the only G7 member from Asia, Japan will urge other Asian nations to act in concert with the G7 in pressuring Russia. Hayashi reportedly added that the use of nuclear weapons should never be allowed and that Japan will work closely with its G7 partners to promote nuclear nonproliferation and disarmament.
