Naha, Okinawa Pref., May 14 (Jiji Press)–Four Chinese coast guard ships sailed in Japanese waters off the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea on Saturday.

The four Haijing ships entered Japanese waters south of Minamikojima in the Senkaku chain between around 10:30 a.m. (1:30 a.m. GMT) and 10:45 a.m., according to the Japan Coast Guard’s 11th regional headquarters in Naha, the capital of the southernmost Japan prefecture of Okinawa.

They left the waters from a point east of the same island between around 11:55 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.

The intrusion by Chinese government ships into Japanese waters around the Senkaku chain was the first since two Haijing ships sailed in the waters between Monday and Tuesday and the eighth this year.

The Japanese-administered islands are claimed by China, which calls them Diaoyu.
