NHK reported on the first day of the G7 meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors being held near Bonn on May 19-20. The finance chiefs agreed to provide Ukraine with further financial support and maintain the pressure on Russia. Finance Minister Suzuki announced Japan’s pledge to extend $300 million in additional loans to Ukraine, doubling Tokyo’s financial support to $600 million. He added that Japan will provide the loans as early as next month to help Ukraine to continue providing public services, including education and healthcare.
