Tokyo, May 20 (Jiji Press)–Japan will provide 3 million dollars in emergency grant aid to Sri Lanka, which is in an economic crisis, Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi said Friday.

The aid will be used to deliver medical goods and food through UNICEF and the U.N. World Food Program.

Sri Lanka is struggling with rapid inflation and huge debts to China.

“We hope that the aid will help Sri Lanka to overcome the difficulties,” Hayashi told a press conference.
