NHK reported that Blue House officials disclosed today that ROK President Yoon will attend the NATO Summit to be held in Madrid, Spain, on June 29 and 30. Although South Korea is not a member of NATO, the president was invited to attend the summit together with the leaders of Japan and other nations. The network said it will be the first time for a South Korean president to attend the summit. Noting that this will be his first overseas trip since he took office last month, the network said Yoon is hoping to hold talks with many foreign leaders to strengthen cooperation to maintain the rules-based international order. The network added that as Prime Minister Kishida is also making arrangements to attend the summit, attention will be focused on whether the two leaders will hold talks in Spain.
