Kishida vows to fight inflation

All broadcasters reported on the first meeting of a GOJ taskforce charged with curbing price increases that was held at the Kantei, noting that in his opening remarks, Prime Minister Kishida voiced the administration’s resolve to rein in skyrocketing inflation. “We will protect people’s livelihoods and businesses from the adverse effects of spikes in prices by implementing without fail the emergency pump-priming package that includes measures against surges in wheat, food, fertilizer, grain, and energy prices,” said the prime minister. He reportedly disclosed that the GOJ will roll out a scheme enabling households to earn discount coupons for the purchase of a variety of items if they conserve electricity.
