Nikkei and Sankei wrote that the governments of the United States and Japan will hold a meeting on the U.S. extended deterrence on June 21-22 in the United States. The papers speculated that the participants will discuss such issues as the U.S. nuclear umbrella and U.S. and Japanese ballistic missile defense with China’s military buildup in mind.
