With regard to the case involving a China-based North Korean IT engineer who developed Japanese smartphone apps under the name of an acquaintance and received money remitted illegally, the Yokohama District Public Prosecutors Office decided on June 17 not to indict a male South Korean national (57, resident of Yokohama City) and a 75-year-old [Japanese] woman (resident of Tokyo’s Kita Ward). The two had been referred to prosecutors, the former for the violation of the Banking Act and the latter for aiding the violation. The reason for dropping the case has not been disclosed.
