Ukrainian envoy expresses hope for Japan’s assistance with reconstruction

Sankei wrote that Ukrainian Ambassador to Japan Korsunsky said during a speech in Tokyo on Wednesday that his nation hopes Japan will support the reconstruction of Ukraine by providing assistance in such areas as removing mines and providing medical services. The envoy reportedly said that there is still a long way to go to reconstruct the nation after it achieves victory and that he hopes Japan will leverage its expertise to help Ukraine to remove mines in farmland and other areas. Concerning medical assistance, Korsunsky said he hopes Japan will provide rehabilitation treatment for Ukrainians injured in the war.  


In a related story, Nikkei wrote that in a remote interview with the paper on Tuesday, Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine Matsuda Kuninori called for Japanese companies to provide financial and human resources to support Ukraine’s reconstruction by saying assistance from the private sector will be indispensable.
