Saturday’s Okinawa Times wrote that regarding the discovery of a bullet-like object at a private house in the Igei district of the town of Kin on July 7, the Okinawa Prefectural Police announced on Friday that its forensics laboratory has determined that the object is the core of a bullet. The lab said, however, that it is unknown whether the object was fired from a gun because neither rifling marks nor gunpowder was found on the object. According to the paper, the police are planning to ask the U.S. military to determine whether it is possible that the object is part of a bullet fired from Camp Hansen.
