Former Upper House member Itokazu Keiko, co-leader of the All Okinawa group, which is opposed to the relocation of the U.S. Military’s Futenma Air Station in Ginowan City to the Henoko district of Nago City, met with Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on Aug. 2 and called for the suspension of the land reclamation work.

After the meeting, Itokazu commented on the areas where earth and sand have already been poured: “The reality is that the areas that are now being reclaimed will never be broken down and returned to their former state. I told (Hayashi) that we oppose further reclamation.”
