All networks reported that Tokyo Governor Koike met with Prime Minister Kishida at the Kantei today and asked him to expand the administration of fourth doses of COVID-19 vaccine to essential workers such as police officers and firefighters in order to maintain social functions. Currently fourth shots are administered to those aged 60 or older, those aged 18 or older with underlying conditions, medical practitioners, and those working at elderly care facilities.
In a related story, the networks reported that Prime Minister Kishida received his fourth shot in Tokyo this morning. He reportedly called on the public to get vaccinated not only for themselves but also for those around them.
